About Us

Our History

Founded in the 1980s, Lasswade Gymnastics Club has grown from a small community club into a well-established gymnastics club serving Midlothian and the surrounding areas.

The club's success is built on the dedication and commitment of many individuals, particularly Susan Purves and Gus Williamson. Their vision, hard work and determination helped shape Lasswade Gymnastics Club into the club it is today. Gus also played a pivotal role in securing financial support, including National Lottery funding, which made it possible to build a purpose-built gymnastics facility in Midlothian.

Originally based within the old Lasswade High School gymnasium, the club later moved into the gymnastics academy we proudly call home today. The academy officially opened in 2013, providing a modern, dedicated training facility where gymnasts of all ages and abilities can flourish.

In its early years, the club specialised in Women's Artistic Gymnastics and Display Gymnastics, with members proudly taking part in one of the first Scottish Gymnastics Gymfest events in 1985.

Our Club Today

Today, Lasswade Gymnastics Club offers a wide range of programmes to suit every age and ability, including:
